About Me

~7 years in non-pharmacist advertising. ~7 years in yes-pharma advertising (Wunderman Thompson --> Digitas Health --> Publicis New York).

Here are 3 lukewarm takes to give you a sense of how I think:

  1. Brands and verticals have nothing to do with how engaging the creative challenge is. I don't think of my work in terms of how "sexy" the client or brand may have been. See my portfolio page on John Guest – selling plumbing parts was the most fun I've ever had at work. I'd ask you to check out my Nike page, but it doesn't exist because that was the least fun I've had at work. Happy to discuss it, though!
  2. Conceptually, a campaign can be totally average – but being different can make it great. That could mean exploiting a strategic whitespace, or just an oblique headline that has no business in a pharma ad but somehow makes you want to keep reading. Being different, within touching distance of what's expected, is a good thing. Basically this means I will never pitch a pharma spot where our hero meets his friends for brunch.
  3. There are very few truly creative people in the world, and I'm not one of them. By "truly creative" I mean those one-in-a-million people who seem energized by creating rather than fatigued by it. Mozart and Prince were creative people. I am not Mozart or Prince. But I do enjoy solving puzzles and pushing boundaries.
